HAPPY 200 ENTRIES TO ME!!

It's weird - it doesn't seem that long since I was 'celebrating' my 100th entry. I've just discovered that it was February 10th, which I suppose wasn't that long away anyway... oh well

...

I have just watched the most wonderfiul film. I've been after it for ages and finally found a link to it online. It's basically a 15 minute movie based on the story of Karen Carpenter and her sruggle with anorexia, told through the medium of... Barbie dolls.

It was beautiful and directed by the glittery Todd Haynes who was also responsible for Velvet Goldmine (as any regular reader of my diary will know is my all-time favourte movie and should be adored by all).

The quality wasn't too great though, as the film is actually not legalised and has never ben publically released. This is mainly due to Richard Carpenter's lawyers and also Mattel who did not want their precious dolls used as actors in a deeply emotional film about a woman with serious problems. Of course, the controversy makes it even more intriguing, but it's more than a notorious piece of low-budget film-making. It's truely original and really got beneath my skin.

So, for anybody remotely interested after my shameless plug, you can watch it here --->

Click on 'Video' and then 'Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story'.

I really want people to see this as it sickens me that it's not widely available.

...

So, yes - I have no real news to tell of today. I'm going to Hannah's tomorrow to watch her new 'Bo Selecta' DVD. Which should be rather hilarious.
